How EnergyScreed’s Flooring Process Revolutionised the Construction of a Modern School

Our EnergyScreed TLA insulation system will help construct a new purpose-built modern school worth over £11 million.

With almost 2700 square meters to cover, we were ready for the challenge.

At EnergyScreed, we install insulation, underfloor heating, and screed quickly and efficiently, getting your project up and running in no time.

Our process is much faster than traditional methods, with the Giacomini UK Ltd Under Floor Heating commissioning starting just seven days after installation.

To provide a pourable insulation/void former, we mix TLA-coated EPS beads with cement and water.

We can design this to meet specific strength and thermal values, providing U-Value calculations.

Key Benefits

  • No thermal bridging as the TLA provides a single monolithic block
  • Virtually zero waste compared to traditional insulation boards
  • Reduced heat and air loss
  • Increased air tightness
  • Non-combustible product with A2 fire rating

The Flooring Process:

We will deliver our innovative flooring process to achieve the best possible results for the new school project.

There are 3 steps:

Step 1: Install a nominal depth of TLA

The first step involves installing TLA, a special insulation made from cement.

TLA ensures the floor is not cold and keeps the heat inside while being installed seamlessly to eliminate cold bridges and thermal bypassing.

Step 2: Cover the TLA with a Separation Layer and install Giacomini DB Underfloor Heating Pipe and Manifolds

After installing TLA, a visqueen membrane is placed on top, followed by underfloor heating pipes.

The installation of these pipes follows a strict design that our team agrees with the client.

We set out the following:

  • Pipe locations
  • Pipe spacing and manifold areas
  • Joints and pipe insulation to avoid excess heat in zones

We create the design to achieve a specific thermal output.

And the Dynamic Balancing Manifold uses less energy and reduces issues such as noise.

The pipes also come with a 101-year warranty.

Step 3: Apply a nominal depth of Cemfloor C25 Liquid Screed

Finally, we pour a special type of cement called Cemfloor C25 over the pipes and smooth out the floor.

This screed is thinner than regular sand and cement.

Which means the floor heats up faster and uses less material.

Joints are reflected at stress points and to manufacturers’ guidelines to pour the screed seamlessly.

Benefits to You:

At EnergyScreed, we understand that the benefits to you are a crucial aspect of our flooring process.

Here are some of the critical advantages that you will experience:

  • Faster installation: Our flooring process is much quicker than traditional methods, meaning we complete projects more quickly, and you can move into their new space sooner.
  • Cost savings: The faster installation time translates into cost savings for you, as you will not have to pay labour costs for as long.
  • Better thermal performance: We design the flooring process to achieve specific thermal output so that you can enjoy a comfortable, evenly heated environment.
  • Lower embodied carbon: Our system reduces embodied carbon by multiples, making it a more environmentally friendly choice.
  • Insurance-backed warranty: We can supply the full floor zone with an insurance-backed warranty, giving you peace of mind that you are making a long-term investment.

In Summary:

The EnergyScreed flooring process is much faster than regular methods and saves time and money.

It’s also better for the environment because it uses less carbon.

And it’s safer because it’s A2 fire-rated.

Bringing together a full floor zone in this manner ensures quality and performance.

We can supply the full floor zone with an insurance-backed warranty.

By choosing EnergyScreed’s flooring process, you can enjoy a range of benefits that will enhance your project and improve the longevity of your new space.
