Introduction
This case study explores the development of 56 eco-friendly cabins by Forest Holidays in Glentress Forest, Peebles.
The project, part of an £18 million development, aims to enhance local tourism while prioritising environmental sustainability.
Challenges and Application
The primary challenge was selecting a suitable flooring solution. The client required a fast-drying, liquid screed to avoid the logistical difficulties associated with traditional sand/cement screed.
The solution was a 50mm Cemfloor C25 Flowing Screed, totalling
205m3. This innovative screed delivered by our TransMix truck offers several advantages:
- Eco-Friendly: Aligning with the project’s sustainability goals, Cemfloor C25 is known for its lower carbon footprint than traditional screeds.
- Efficiency: Its quick-drying properties meant faster project turnaround, which is crucial for meeting tight deadlines.
- Performance: Offering high thermal conductivity, it was ideal for the cabins, which were designed with energy efficiency in mind.
- Ease of Installation: The flowing nature of the screed from our
TransMix truck allows for quicker and more uniform installation, reducing labour costs and time.
